PriceProof 30 records the price history of the products in a Shopify store so the store can show the lowest price of the last 30 days on its product pages. This page describes exactly what the app reads, what it keeps, where it keeps it, and when it is deleted.
What the app stores
When a merchant installs the app, it reads the store's catalog through the Shopify Admin API and keeps the following:
- the store's myshopify.com domain and its currency;
- product titles, product handles and variant titles;
- each variant's price and compare-at price, with the date and time the app observed a change;
- the access token Shopify issues for the store, so the app can read prices and write its results back;
- the name of the app plan the store is subscribed to.
What the app does not store
The app stores no customer or shopper data of any kind. It does not read, receive or keep customer names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, orders, carts or payment details. It requests no access to customer or order data from Shopify.
The widget the app adds to a product page reads a value that is already part of the page. It makes no network requests of its own, sets no cookies, and does not track, profile or identify visitors.
Why the app stores it
Shopify does not retain a history of past prices, so the lowest price over a period cannot be calculated unless it is recorded as it happens. Product and variant titles are kept only so the merchant can recognise their own products in the app's tables.
Where the data is held
The application runs on Render and the database is operated by Neon. Both are located in Frankfurt, Germany, within the European Union. Data is not transferred outside the EU by the app.
The app relies on these processors and no others:
- Shopify — the source of the product data and the platform the app runs inside;
- Render — application hosting;
- Neon — database hosting.
The app does not sell, rent or share store data with anyone, and does not use it for advertising or for training machine-learning models.
How long it is kept
Price history is retained for up to 400 days. Older entries are removed automatically, except the most recent price recorded before that cutoff, which is needed to know what a product cost at the start of the tracked window.
Deletion
Uninstalling the app stops all tracking immediately and deletes the store's access token, so the app can no longer read anything.
Shopify then sends a shop redaction request, normally 48 hours after uninstall. On receiving it the app erases everything it holds for that store: settings, products, variants, the full price history and all background job records. Nothing is retained afterwards.
The app also implements Shopify's mandatory customer data request and customer redaction webhooks. Because no customer data is ever stored, there is nothing for them to return or erase, and they are acknowledged accordingly.
Merchant rights
A merchant may request a copy of everything the app holds about their store, or its deletion, at any time — deletion also happens on its own after uninstall, as described above.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or how it is used, the date at the top of this page is updated and merchants using the app are notified.
